Question: I take a single Loperimide XXXXXXX daily, but it's not helping my diarhea. Can you recommend a better supplement or drug?

Acute diarrhea is most commonly due to infection but if it continues beyond 4 weeks (chronic diarrhea), then other causes should be ruled out by testing.

If the loperamide is not working for you, you can consider trying lomotil otc (over the counter) or peptobismol.
Probiotics should be used as well, these help to replace the normal bacteria in the colon and can often shorten the course of diarrhea.

The probiotics can either be used on their own or in yogurts with probiotics

Remember to hold off solid food till there is a 4 hour window with no symptoms. Use fluids.
