Suggest Treatment For Chronic Constipation With Abdominal And Hip Pain

Question: Hello Doctor, I am a 38 year old male with, what seems to be, chronic constipation. After a few days my stools become hard and small 'pellet' like. I also pains in by abdomen, especially the left side (this could also be because of pressurizing while 'I'm 'on the seat '. I take 400 mg Eptoin for epilepsy since the last ten years now and also have kidney stone problems. I got the ultrasound done and it came out clean.

Plus, I have pain right above my left hip which at time goes till the toes. I got the MRI done and the doctor said that it is nothing that some exercise won't cure.

My question is that can the abdomen pain, hip pain and the constipation be related? Does this happen due to some nerve compression? Thanks!

Brief Answer:
YES

Detailed Answer:
Hi
yes it may be right
chronic constipation may leads to abdominal pain and if MRI is normal , your hip pain is also attributed to constipation or simple muscular problem

If there is nerve compression, it should be detected by MRI, so it does not look like nerve compression

treat your constipation by more fluids, fibres, exercises. avoid refined food. If this is not helpful than see your doctor to prescribe medicine

hope this will help

take care
