Brief Answer:
normally small improvement in 3 to 4 days

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Normally though the infection is not completely treated by antibiotics, slight improvement is expected by day 3 to 4 at least.

The symptoms normally start showing some minimal improvement at that stage. There are some persons who may respond more slowly because everyone has an individual response to infection and treatment but most note some small changes by day 3 to 4.

In addition to your antibiotics, if you have a wet cough, you should consider the use of a mucolytic agent. This is medication to break up any mucus in your chest , examples include bisolvan, mucomyst, guiafenesin
If the coughing is persistent then the use of an oral or inhaled bronchodilator may be helpful. These are medications that help to open the airways which may become narrowed in an infection.

Enough rest and fluids are also important to help with recovery. Pain medication would help to relieve any discomfort associated with the ear infection.

If there is no improvement at all after at least 6 to 7 days of treatment then you may need to re visit your doctor for re assessment. It may be possible that you are resistant to the antibiotics that you have been given.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
