default
Posted on Wed, 3 Aug 2016
Question: Hello,

I need your help and support. Since few weeks I notice boils / wounds filled with pus on my penis head. I am married and enjoying sexual life happily without using any barriers like condoms. This boil is paining and I notice pus coming out of it if I drain it. Again it starts. I also notice some different odor there that wasn't there before. Please help me to cure this ailment at the earliest. Does my wife needs treatment too?

Brief Answer:
Boil or Herpes

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for the trust. I checked the pictures.
Since the boils are painful but do not have fever or painful urination, it is not serious. However I suspect a boil (infection of hair follicle) or Herpes genitalis in your case.
I would suggest to apply Neosporin ointment over the area.
I also suggest to undergo the tests suggested by your doctor. Denial is something which I see as a problem in STD's. It is hard to accept but herpes can occur amongst trusted couples. If it proves to be Herpes or other STD, your wife also needs treatment. Neosporin would not affect the blood tests so they can be reliable.

Hope this addresses.

Hello Dr.Suma,

Than you for your diagnosis. However, if it is Herpes, does it subside by applying Neosporin or I need to take any antibiotics? Does my wife needs to take any antibiotics or other medicines to prevent these in the future? What is the impact if myself and my wife aren't treated for this? Is this something we have to worry about Please suggest.

Regards,
Phani.
