Question: Hi doctor, is there a chance I can get my wife pregnant with the following semen analysis? Sperm concentration 34mil. Total count 154 mil. Fast forward progressive (grade a) only 5% and slow progressive 35%. Viability with an hour 60%. All other numbers were fine.

Please let me know if we have a chance. Thanks

Thanks for query .
Based on the values of active grade motile sperm reported in your sperm analysis to be 5% is lower than normal value of 15% accepted by infertility centers all over the world to impregnate your wife by natural means.Hence it is unlikely that you will impregnate your wife by natural means .

Truly speaking there are no medications that can increase sperm motility .
However following general measures do help to increase sperm motility.
1) Practice regular exercise for 45 minutes followed by meditation for 1/2 an hour in the morning.
2) Take high protein diet rich in vegetables and fruits and Vitamin A,C,D,E.and Zinc
3)Take anti oxidants like Almonds 5-6 everyday..
4) Avoid alcohol and smoking..

Repeat your semen analysis after three months to check out any improvement in sperm motility .If the status remains the same you will need to consult qualified infertility specialist to explore the possibility of pregnancy with the help of newly assisted reproductive techniques like IVF or ICSI .
