Question: Hi Dr XXXXXXX
I have been in touch with you about internal hemeroids. In a few days, I am going with O'regan method of banding for the first hemeroid. They have to do a total of three each two weeks apart. My question is will the removal of hemeroids create any bad side effects - may be loose anal control when I cough etc Also should I have all three done or get two hemeroids done and then wait for 3 months to see if the problem of bleeding is solved. If not solved get the third one done after 3 months. Thanks.

Brief Answer:
Follow up answer.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear patient,
Thanks for follow up.

Frankly speaking problems like severe pain or bleeding from anus can occur but these problems are encountered usually in 2 out of 100 patients theoretically and less then 1 out of 500 patients practically.
So as you can see chances of all these problems are very rare and are usually temporary if they do occur.

Answer 2-Best way is to get rid of all three hemorrhoids as suggested by your primary surgeon.
The thing is that any left over hemorrhoid would cause problem in future .So when you are going through banding procedure its a better idea to get it done at one go.
I don't think wait and watch would be a good idea.

I wish you mountains of luck my dear patient.
Thanks.

Thanks alot Dr XXXXXXX I will go ahead with removal of all three hemorrhoids. can this removal cause long term health problems like anal control when I cough etc. I am only concerned long term like 6 months or years. What I am wondering is are hemorrhoids necessary for optimum functioning of human body? Thank you again for clear and detailed responses.

Brief Answer:
Follow up.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,
No sphincteric injury is very rarely seen in this procedure(that too when done by lame surgeons inn remote areas of world). So please don't worry about the bad experiences of peoples you might have read on google(as firstly they are among very rare peoples secondly health care is very developed in usa).

No hemorrhoids are abnormal dilation of veins in anal canal. So its not necessary for body rather they are pathological and should be taken care of.

Please go for operation.
Don't read too much on google.
Prefer to read on sites like NCBI only.

Thanks,Good luck and wish you a very fast recovery.
