Brief Answer:
Could be related to acute gastritis.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to health care magic,

I have read your query and understand the concern.

Belching or burping is the way of body to expel out air from stomach whether it is due to excess swallowed air or produced because of food digestion or acid reflux or gastritis etc.

But it needs further evaluation by clinical examination and various tests to arrive at a certain conclusion since the problem has been from a week or 10 days.

So,I will advise your wife to go for routine blood works,ESR,stool test and abdominal ultrasound to rule out any infection or other gastric issue apart from gastritis.

Meanwhile, she should take symptomatic over the counter medications and dietary precautions to get relieved from this burping and bloating stomach.

1) Give over the counter antacids tablets like Tab.Pantoprazole 40 with Tab.Gas-X twice daily to get relieved from the symptoms of bloating and sharp burning pain.

2) Syrup digene 2 TSF three times a day will also be helpful.

3) Avoid hot, oily and spicy foods.

5) Avoid eating full stomach one at a time rather, take small meals frequently.

6) Have soft diet only for next 3 to 5 days.

7) Avoid complex carbohydrates like beans, potato and carbonated beverages and milk based products which are hard to digest.

8) Drink plenty of water and fruit juices the day.

9) There are certain digestive enzymes (Uni-enzymes) available over the counter which will also be helpful in the digestion of carbohydrates and minimize the gas production.

We may expect to see improvement from these symptoms within 2 to 3 days but if her problem persists longer, then i will advise to see physician or gastro-physician who can order various tests (like routine blood works, abdominal ultrasound) and can come to a particular diagnosis and start the treatment.

Hope this will be helpful.
