default
Posted on Fri, 9 Jan 2015
Question: This week, 3 visitors at our house had vomiting and touch of diarrhea. They came from out of state, they flew and one of them was a 3 year old. My husband had a very upset stomach, but never vomited: no diarrhea. He is sleeping a lot, and feels tired and is bloated. he describes it as feeling like he has had a full meal and he has eaten very little. He says he is not constipated.

Brief Answer:
Acute Gastritis

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for the query

From the history you have given me it looks like your husband is suffering from acute gastritis probably secondary to food poisoning as more than 1 person is affected in a similar way. He is what he should do

1. Ibuprofen is a wrong drug to take as it induces more gastritis
2. I recommend him to take Tab Omeprazole once a day before food for 5 days, I also recommend Tab domperidone to taken along with it
3. Avoid milk, milk products, fruit juices, caffeine and smoking
4. Do not sleep immediately after dinner, wait out for 2 hours post dinner to lie down

He should be alright in a 2-3 days, if he is still not better then please approach your general physician

I hope I was of help, if you have any further queries please get back to me

Regards
