Question: My mother 51 year old is having giddiness and vomited once since yesterday. She is also experincing stomach pain since 2 days. She suspects high bp is causing this as she had more than usual intake of salt in the last 2 days. Would you have any advice?

Brief Answer:
Might be mild stomach infection; Also get blood pressure checked

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for posting your query in healthcaremagic.com
This is Dr. Swarnava dattagupta answering your query.

I understand your concern.
If she has hypertension or increased blood pressure, you should get her blood pressure checked. Also, avoid excess intake of salt as this might lead to increased blood pressure.
The dizziness might be due to blood pressure changes but stomach pain is unlikely. There might have been some mild stomach infection which is causing the stomach pain and vomiting. In such patients, I suggest the following-

Diet modification- avoiding fatty junk food, taking lots of water and dietary fibers.
Regular exercise- it enhances metabolism.
Antibiotics like ofloxacin-ornidazole for 5 days.
Tramadol or Decolic tablet if there is excess stomach pain.

You can follow the above or discuss them with your family doctor.
Also, get blood pressure checked by your treating doctor and get an opinion.

Hope i have answered your question.
If you have any further questions i will be happy to help.
Regards.
