Question: I have a stye on my upper eyelid with the whole upper lid swelling 2 days ago..Uses refresh tears, now the stye is more focussed to one spot rather than the whole eyelid..Will similasan stye eye relief drops help in reducing the pain, dryness and the stye? I also use contact lenses..So is it safe to use the similasan drops?

Brief Answer:
Antibiotic ointment will be helpful.

Detailed Answer:
My dear,
Thanks for sending your query to us.
This style needs hot fomentation twice a day for about 8 to 10 minutes. As the acute stage is apparently over and there is not much of pain, otherwise anti inflammatory tablets will be needed. An application of antibiotic eye ointment at bed time will be very welcome.
We as a rule advice our patients never to use an eye drop with contact lenses,as there is always a risk of damaging the lens.
Eye drops as they effect the eye surface and do not reach the lid margin, are technically unlikely to effect the style, but will be useful for dryness.
