Posted on Sat, 9 Jul 2016
Question: Tick removed from soft fatty area of left stomach Saturday. Removal of tick difficult and left a leg. Could not grasp with tweezers and sterilized needle; was able to remove with my fingernails but bloody sore spot remained. Covered with hydrogen peroxide and triple antibiotic cream for the night. Sunday and Monday morns I applied more hydrogen peroxide, antibiotic cream, and bandaid. This morn there appears to be an infection with puss under the hardened core and a redness below the sore. Should I see a doctor for fear of Lyme or other diseases?

Brief Answer:
You should see a Doctor

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
To recapitulate: Female/69 - tick removed from fatty area of stomach on Saturday - left a leg - bloody sore spot - hydrogen peroxide and triple antibiotic cream - taking antibiotic for sinus and ear infection - today - infection and pus under hardened core - wants to know whether to meet a Doctor for fear of Lyme's or other diseases ...

I would advise you the following:
- Please tell me which antibiotic are you taking?
- Please post clear photographs of the affected parts.

- It is always better to consult your Doc for clinical evaluation, examination, to decide the further course of action and to see whether the antibiotic you are already taking be of some use.
This will allow the proper wound care also.

I hope this answers your query, please feel free to ask for further relevant queries if you feel that there is a gap of communication.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your feedback.
Cefuroxim is one of the recommended medicines in Lymes but since you have got an abscess an additional antibiotic will take care of abscess as well as the Lymes.
Your Doctor would direct you better as per the present recommendations in your area.
