Suggest Treatment For A Bruise Underarm In An Elderly Person

default
Posted on Thu, 2 Feb 2017
Question: I am 66 years old. I have a history of DVTs in my leg. I am 5'1", 150#s.
I fell last Thursday & have a good sized bruise on my underarm. It is very painful, but it doesn't seem to be swollen. Upon feeling the area, the area that is most painful feels like a small hard pea. Should I be concerned?
(I don't take blood thinners.)

Brief Answer:
Its a Hematoma and it would resolve soon.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and Welcome to Health Care Magic.
Thanks for your question.
When did you have DVT?
Are you on any medicines presently? If yes please do let me know which ones?
I have seen the picture and it looks like a resolving hematoma in the arm.
You need not worry about it until you have problems or pain during moving the shoulder or elbow.
Just apply Thrombophob ointment on the area for a week twice a day and can take Tab Tramadol 50mg for the pain whenever it is severe.
You will be fine soon, do not worry.
Take care and do let me know if there are any queries on this issue.
