Suggest Treatment For A Boil On The Right Hip

default
Posted on Wed, 9 Nov 2016
Question: I had developed a boil on right hip that I treated as an abscess with ayurvedic medications like kachnar guggul, kaishor guggul, baledona plaster and locally applied dashang lape. Its been 12 days and while in starting it was quite painful, it gradually became itchy and was a hard circular formation to touch. This hard formation was gradually decreasing in size and I thought its healing. However after I woke up a day ago( had applied dashag laep on the affected area before sleeping), the entire area where it was applied became too itchy and by the end of the day I could feel burning sensation and along with the itch. Have only applied aloe vera gel after cleaning the area with medical spirit. And the burn and itch continues as i can see many small boils with liquid
in and around the entire area. Please help!!

Brief Answer:
It is an allergic skin rash

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX

Thanks for posting the query.

I have seen the photographs that you have attached.

The whole area is filled with water filled blebs and the area is red and inflammed. I don't think that the diagnosis that you had made initially,of ABSCESS, was correct.

It would have been a superficial boil, which has flared up now. Your skin may be allergic to belladona plaster and this may have caused the exacerbation of rash.

I suspect that you may be having very soft and sensitive skin, causing such kind of rashes.

At present, apply local anti allergic cream. Do not apply anything warm. Application of ice will be helpful.

Anti-inflammatory,anti histaminic tablets should be take orally for minimum 5 days. After 5 days, depending upon the recovery, we can decide on further line of treatment.

If the symptoms show no signs of recovery, you should consult a dermatologist.

Thank you.

Take care.

Hi XXXXXXX

The initial photos show hair follicle bleb and that has got secondarily infected now.

Start taking antibiotics also, along with anti inflammatory tablets, to recover fast.

2. Tab omez 20 mg -1 tablet in morning, 1 tablet in evening, before food. Can be taken with water.
3. Tab. Augmentin - 1 tablet in morning, 1 tablet in evening, after food ,with 1 glass of milk.
4.Benadryl or caladryl creams are anti allergic creams.

After 5 days, upload a photograph to see the progress and recovery.

Thanks for the information.
I was also worried about the boil requiring incision and drainage. I could feel the hardness around the boil decreasing along with itch before this reaction happened. Should I consult a surgeon or wait for the boil to subside?

Brief Answer:
NO IMMEDIATE CONSULTATION NEEDED

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX

I do not think that you need to consult a surgeon immediately.

After you complete the course of medicines that i have prescribed, the hardness around the boil will either resolve completely or it will decrease in size considerably.

If its resolved completely, then no need to consult a surgeon. Only if the hardness and pain persist after 5 days, then you may need incision and drainage from a surgeon.

Thank you.

Take care. Wish you a speedy recovery.
