Brief Answer:
do you need treatment??

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

the only treatment that can be taken during pregnancy (category B drug) is metronidazole. The dosage for blastocystis hominis is 1500mg per day for 10 days. The dose can be taken once (1500mg each time that is) or split in three doses of 500mg each. The question is why do you need treatment? Blastocystis is a pathogen (?) that's not of documented clinical significance. That is we don't know whether it really causes disease or not. Your doctor should decide whether the problems you may have are worth risking even with a category B drug like metronidazole.

Regarding skin scraping: the correct procedure requires applying alcohol before scraping.

I hope it helps!
Kind Regards!
