Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX she does not need to take any further dosage of misoprostol.
The process of abortion will take almost6-7 days to complete.
Completion of abortion is confirmed by ultrasound after15 days.
There is no role of doing any further urine pregnancy test, as it will take almost6 weeks to become negative after the process of abortion.
Next periods usually come in 6 weeks.
Hope you found the answer helpful.

Dear dr XXXXXXX
Many thanks for your prompt reply.
I just want to clarify something,,,passing out of the thick dark blood means the abortion has taken place?
She is still bleeding and in your opinion how long does it last normally.
Also a personal question, is there any other option we got to confirm the completion of abortion than an ultrasound
Is there anything else for us to worry at this stage
Thanks
XXXX

Brief Answer:
Detailed answer below

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX passing of thick blood with clots and fleshy mass is suggestive of the fact that the process of abortion has started.
The bleeding will continue for 7-10 days.
Ultrasound or examination by an OBGYN specialist are two methods to confirm the completion of abortion.
There is nothing to worry except the fact that if there is very heavy bleeding, then she should consult a doctor immediately
Hope you found the answer helpful.

Dear Dr XXXXXXX
Thank you very much for your help.
Today, her bleeding is very less. Does it mean that process is unsuccessful.
Is that normal?
In normal circumstances, does it continue bleed for atleast 7-10 days?
We are a bit concerned ,,that's all

Brief Answer:
7-10 days is the maximum duration of bleeding

Detailed Answer:
Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. 7-10 days is the maximum duration of bleeding, it can be finished in 2-3 days also.
This does not means that the abortion has not occurred.
Hope you found the answer helpful.

Answered by Dr. Deepti Verma (1 hour later)
Brief Answer:
Do get an ultrasound done

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX abdominal pain is a symptom of abortion, however if the pain is severe, then she urgently needs to get an ultrasound done to confirm the completion of abortion and to rule out any ectopic pregnancy.
Diarrhoea is usually a side effect of misoprostol.
Please do get back to me with the ultrasound report.
