Question: Can severe sore throat and chest congestion, cough last for over a week in 3 yrs old. He had 101 fever 1 night only.Today is his 3rd dy on antibiotics

Sore throat, chest congestion and cough are symptoms of Upper respiratory tract infection. And viral infection is the most common cause for this.
Usual time for recovery is 1-2 weeks.
But in some patients, recovery can be delayed.
So no need to worry if he is not improving in 1 week.
Continue same treatment as advised by doctor.
If he is still having symptoms even after completion of drugs, better to get done chest x ray to rule out lung infection.
