Suggest Remedy For Pain In Lower Ankle Area Post Surgery
Question: I dislocated my ankle and broke fibula bone six weeks ago as of today. I had surgery to put plate and screws in fibula.
I am NWB and have
cast on below knew. My next follow up appointment is in a week.
I feel good and I think it is healing.
However, today it is more achy (not really painful) in the lower ankle area. And has felt a bit tender (achy) on the fibula bone by my knee when I touch with my finger.
Is this normal? Does this mean it is healing when you fell this? Will I have feeling like this for awhile until I start weight bearing and start physio?

I have gone through your query and understand your concern. Occasional pain off and on can occur in operated fractured fibula. You may take analgesic such as ibuprofen for this. Off and on pain will gradually reduce but it sometimes occur upto 3 months postoperatively. Yes you are right that it will be not there after fracture got consolidated ( solidly United) and joints aren't stiff after exercises and normal walking without plaster cast. You can discuss with your doctor about it.
