Suggest Remedy For Discomfort When Swallowing

default
Posted on Wed, 18 Mar 2015
Question: I have been noticing discomfort when swallowing. It feels as if there's some kind of tension in the lower front muscles of my throat. I have a slight forward head posture and I slouch a bit, but I'm also under a lot of stress because I suffer from GERD/LPR, nerve damage in my throat, tonsil issues and painful swallowing. Could posture and/or stress be effecting this discomfort?

Brief Answer:
Discomfort while swallowing & tension in lower throat is because of GERD.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for the query.

I have read your query and understand your concern.

In my opinion , discomfort while swallowing & tension in lower throat is because of GERD/LPR , nerve damage & tonsil issues .

Stress increases GERD/LPR hence indirectly causing throat discomfort while swallowing.

If I were your treating Doctor for this case , i would advice you
life style modification to avoid stressful life & GERD/LPR.
Timely eating & sleeping , avoid fast food , spicy , excess tea coffee & any addiction .

If chronic tonsillitis disturbing your routine life better to get removed .

I would also advice , Tab Esomeprazole for the control of GERD/LPR for 8 weeks .
You can discuss this with your treating doctor.

Hope this information helpful to you .If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
Regards.

This does not answer my question. I know about the tonsillectomy procedure and I know about anti-reflux medication.

My question is not "Does reflux cause throat discomfort?" or "Does tonsillitis cause throat discomfort?" My question is: Can posture cause throat discomfort, and specifically, dysphagia and/or odynopagia?
