Suggest Remedy For Black And Blue Bruise Around The Bicep

Question: My son(29) was lifting weights on Monday and heard a tear/ a noise on his bicep. It was painful for the moment but not anymore. He now has a black and blue bruise around his bicep. He feels no weakness or pain in that arm. Did he strain the muscle? and should he be resting it? What should he do?

I am Dr.Muhammad Ahmad, I have read your question, I understand your concern and will try to help you in the best possible way.

This is really really common problem in athletes and weight lifters , when then lift heavy weights , their muscle fibres may break this causes blood to ooze out a bruise is formed , this is called post heavy work out muscle soreness, it will go in a few days. to Help healing he should do a few things.

1) Rest.
2) Don;t life weights yet.
3) Warm compresses.
4) Rub Brufen or diclofenac cream over the area.
5) Brufen ortylenol for pain.

Just keep checking when bruise fades he can start training again no worries. just keep the weights well in range of his strength and keep good safe posture while training to avoid injuries.
