Brief Answer:
Can be due to decreased joint lubricants.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
After a knee surgery for cartilage defects, the patient usually can walk normally in 10-12 weeks. In few cases the pain may persist due to decreased joint lubricants or lack of proper activity. Hot compress and physiotherapy with joint lubricant supplements like Glucosamine or chondroitin can help you. It is best to consult your surgeon for a direct examination to confirm the cause of persistent pain.
I hope this answers your query.
In case you have additional questions or doubts, you can forward them to me, and I shall be glad to help you out.
