Suggest Remedies For Broken Wrist In Left Hand

default
Posted on Fri, 19 Aug 2016
Question: I have had a broken wrist on my left hand due to a car wreck 8 years ago but also severe pain in both thumb areas since 2 years ago. I eventually began having so much pain that cortisone shots did not work. Plus having muscle spasms tight around my chest area. The doctor tested me blood work. I had a false positive for rheumatoid arthritis. I took the blood work twice. Now theyre confused.

Brief Answer:
It can be due to nerve entrapment

Detailed Answer:
H! Welcome to health care magic! Thanks for sharing your concerns with us. We will try to help you in best way possible. First of all, it is sad to know what you had gone through. Based on the history you have shared, and with negative history of rheumatoid arthritis, it can be due to nerve entrapment followed by some deformed healing after that accident. You need to get it reviewed by an orthopedician and get relevant Xrays as well as uric acid levels. If any such cause is found out surgical correction may be needed to release such entrapment. Using analgesics like acetaminophen or ibuprofen or neproxen can give temporary relieves. Un severe cases nerve blocks are given to desensitise the affected area. Chest muscle tightness also needs to be evaluated. First by EKG and chest Xray to rule out any cardiac or pulmonary cause. If both are normal then muscular or costochondral pain can be a reason. You also need to consult a rheumatologist to look for any such autoimmune diseases which may cause proximal muscle weaknesses or parasthesias or musculopatheis which can lead to such nerve involvements and autoimmune profile may be needed. Wishing you a speedy recovery. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. Regards.
