Question: This is with regard to my father aged 79 who is not having any specific problem apart from age related difficulties in walking and vision. He is also suffering from Prostate enlargement of Grade III and takes prescribed Veltam - F daily. The cholesterol and Triglycerides are high from a very very long time. Medicines like lipidsol prescribed by a doctor long back caused some problems and he discontinued them. I request you to kindly go through the reports and guide me if I need to consult a specific domain expert. Thank you.

Brief Answer:
A physician consultation is advised.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,welcome to HealthcareMagic forum.
I am Dr Aslam here to help you.
Actually, investigation results are to be interpreted along with a detailed clinical profile. It is difficult to give a clear cut idea with investigation report alone.
Anyhow,we can arrive at some conclusion.
It shows:
1)The most important one is the altered lipid profile-shows marked hyper triglyceridemia. This needs early intervention to reduce risk of cardiac/cerebral ischemic events. It needs hypolipidemic drugs along with diet and lifestyle modification.Do regular exercise-40-45 minutes daily.Reduce non veg/oily/fried items.Take enough of fruits and veges.
2)There is subclinical hypothyroidism. This may need daily supplementation of low dose thyroxine.
3)A marginally low value for sodium and vitamin D.These need not be worried much. For this age, this is not a too much low value.
4)An elevated lymphocyte count. This can be from simple conditions like a viral fever. If this persist on a repeat count done after 2-3 weeks,it need to be evaluated further.
So you can see a physician initially.Depending on the situation, you may be asked for a few more investigations, and sometimes a cardiologist consultation.
Hope I have answered your query. If you have further questions,I will be happy to help.
Wishing both of you a healthy life,Thank you.
