Brief Answer:
yes, many medications

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for your question.
There are many medications that are helpful with back pain and neuropathy. The medications gabapentin and pregabalin are medications that are often used to treat neuropathy. These medications seem to work by calming down the irritated nerve cells. Some of the older antidepressants like amitriptyline at low dose can help with neuropathy. Some of the newer antidepressants like cymbalta may also help with neuropathic pain. We think that some of the antidepressants help with pain because when serotonin is raised it helps to decrease the pain response in the central nervous system. For general back pain that is not neuropathic in nature, anti-inflammatory medications like ibuprofen may be helpful. Narcotics are an option if the pain is severe but they have many side effects and would only be used if other medications and treatments (like chiropractic care and physical therapy) have failed.
I hope you find some relief soon.
