Brief Answer:
Fish, fish liver oils, fortified dairy products are the best sources.

Detailed Answer:

Dear XXXXXXX Hi
Good afternoon.
I have gone through the history and the uploaded results which are suggestive of Vitamin D deficiency.

The best dietary sources of Vitamin D include fish, fish liver oils, egg yolks & fortified dairy (milk and milk products), grains (like wheat), etc.

Oral supplementation include medications such as Shelcal or Adcal tablets which contain Calcium carbonate 1,500 mg and vitamin D3 10 mcg.
1 tab to be taken twice daily.

Vitamin D is produced by the body in response to skin being exposed to sunlight.

15 to 20 minutes daily exposure to the sun preferably between 10:00 am to 2:00 is required for the synthesis of Vitamin D in the skin this is for light skinned persons. Since you have a dark looking skin hence you may require six times the sun exposure to make the same vitamin D levels as a very fair-skinned persons. For better results avoid using sunscreens & use light loose clothing.

Hope the suggestions given above could be of great in overcoming the deficiency of Vitamin D.

Best regards.

Brief Answer:
Supplements are in the form of tablets.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX Hi
Good evening.
Thanks for your reply.
Noted the contents.

The supplements of Vitamin D and Calcium suggested in previous reply are in the form of tablets.
Generally Injectable forms of Vitamin D (like Inj. Calcitriol) is not recommended to correct the vitamin D deficiency.
Tablets like Shelcal or Adcal are sufficient enough to correct the deficiency states along with increasing the dietary intake of Vitamin D rich sources as mentioned earlier.
Since you have a history of high cholesterol, avoid taking egg yolk but continue to take fish or dairy products as suggested earlier.

Best regards.

Brief Answer:
Capsules with gelatin contain Vitamin D3 only.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX Hi
Thanks for your reply.
Noted the contents.

1. Dietary supplements in the form of capsules with gelatin contain Vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol) ONLY, whereas in tablet forms Calcium carbonate is added to Vitamin D3.

2. Cod liver is a dietary supplement. It is one of the best sources of omega 3 fatty acids and contains relatively high amounts of vitamin A & vitamin D. It has an additional benefit of reducing the triglyceride level, thus preventing the development of atherosclerosis (fat deposition in the blood vessels) responsible for ischemic heart disease.

3. The goal of treatment is to normalize vitamin D levels to relieve symptoms & to decrease the risk of fractures. In persons with vitamin D deficiency, treatment is usually given for 8 weeks. After vitamin D levels normalize, a maintenance dose of (vitamin D3) at 800 to 1,000 IU per day from dietary and supplemental sources is recommended.

Hope the suggestions given above could be of great help to you in getting treated for Vitamin D deficiency state.

Kindly rate the answers if you do not have any follow up query.
Best wishes.
