Brief Answer:
Explained.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing to us with your health concern.
Congratulations on this pregnancy !

Let me give you a few tips -
1. Please visit an obstetrician at the earliest. She should have a checkup and ultrasound scan to confirm that the baby is alright.
2. Get the following blood tests done - CBC, TSH, HIV, HBsAg, HCV, OGTT, Urine routine microscopy, HBA2 assay, ABORh factor.
3. Take folic acid 5 mg per day everyday, no other supplements needed unless some risk is present.
4. Start iron, calcium, vitamin D and protein supplements from 14 weeks onwards till breastfeeding is continued.
5. Eat healthy nutritious food. Have 5 - 6 small meals instead of 2 major meals. Have lots of fluids, at least 5 litres per day as summer is approaching. Drink lots of water, soup, juice, nimbu pani, buttermilk, etc. Eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. Include milk, paneer, curd, buttermilk as dairy products in the diet. Eat fresh, simple, home made food. Avoid oily, spicy , greasy outside food. Include lots of protein - egg, fish, chicken, liver for non vegetarians and for vegetarians - paneer, dal, rajma, beans etc. Avoid processed food packets. Cook all food thoroughly and have it hot. Maintain good kitchen hygiene.
6. Avoid stress of any kind. Take mild exercise like a walk for 30 minutes everyday. Enrol in an antenatal class to learn pelvic floor exercises.
7. Stay away from radiation, chemicals, toxins, pollution. Do not take any medications without consulting your doctor first.
8. As such, the first ultrasound scan is done around 6 - 8 weeks, then at 12 - 14 weeks and then in the third trimester of pregnancy.

Now please let me know a few details regarding your wife -
Is this your first pregnancy?
What is your height and weight?
Do you have any complications or worrisome family or personal medical history?
Any specific area regarding which you need advice?
Did you have any problems in conception, or did you not plan a baby for 3 years till now?

All the best
Please feel free to discuss further.

Brief Answer:
Folic acid to be taken

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for the update.
The advice remains same as above.
Regarding medication, only folic acid needs to be taken for the first 3 months.
If she is having nausea and morning sickness, she can take tablet Sinate - OD.
This tablet contains medication for her nausea, combined with folic acid.

I have already explained diet in detail, please let me know specifically what else she needs to know.
