Suggest Dosage Of Synthroid

default
Posted on Mon, 27 Jul 2015
Question: Hi, I feel like my thyroid is very low... I already have an hypothyroidie, and take a medication called synthroid (0,05mg).
For the last month, I am very very tired, I did'nt had my period for two months, I feel cold sometimes, I gain weight (5 pounds) but not eat more than usual and I feel also depressed !
Well, my last THS control was in April 2015 and the result was 2.56 miu/L...

I will do another blood test tomorrow but my question is: Considering my aprils'result, is my synthroid dose enough to control my TSH ???

Thank you so much !

Brief Answer:
The dose was enough

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Welcome to HCM. I have gone through the question and understand your concerns.

Once on treatment the target TSH is to keep it less that 3 miu/L. Your previous TSH is 2.5 which is well within this target. So your synthyroid dose was adequate last April.

Please check your TSH and T4 now. If it is still in target range, you should look for other causes of tiredness. The usual tests we do after a good clinical examination are:

Serum Cortisol, electrolytes, plasma glucose, lipid profile, calcium, vitamin D, B12, liver and kidney function etc.

Hope I have answered your questions. If you have any further queries I will be happy to help you
