Question: Hello sir,

I was diagnosed with abdomen TB in march 2015. From then for 3 months I was on akt 4, banadon 20 mg, pantosid dsr and zevit. After 3 months I.e in XXXXXXX all my medicines were continued but akt 4 was changed to akt 3. Then in September i was suggested to an ultrasound in which mass which was seen ealier and acitis was resolved but the bowel loops were mildly swollen. Then in January 2016 few days back i was suggested to go through a ct scan with contrast. In that there was no signs of tb and it says resolution of lymphadenopathy . But mild hepatomegaly because liver was mildly enlarged i.e 16 cm and degenarative changes seen in vertebrae in form of endplate irregularity at multiple levels with schmorl's node at l2/l3 level. I was then on 15 January told by the doctor to stop all medicines from 26 January and only take Lumia 60k once a week for 12 weeks. I just want to ask that is it safe to stop my medicine at once and do not take any medicine from now on but only Lumia 60k. Or any other suggestions?

Brief Answer:
Medicines can be stopped.

Detailed Answer:
HI

Thanks for posting your query.

Well you have received adequate course of TB medicines and all the reports post treatment suggest that TB has been cured.

Hence as per your doctor's advise and also my opinion is to stop the TB medicines. Lumia 60k is vitamin d medicine just given to strenghten your bones as the scan showed degenerative changes in the bones.

Hope this information was useful to you.
Any clarifications feel free to ask.

Regards.

Thank you for your advice sir. But sir, in all previous tests my liver was normal in size but in XXXXXXX 2016 it is mildly enlarged. Is there any problem with that? And why always before CT scan with contrast I was supposed to to kft?

Brief Answer:
Finish off Benadon and Zevit.

Detailed Answer:
HI

There are many causes of enlarged liver . From simple Viral infections , Typhoid , Alcoholism or just due to excess fat deposition.

Was anything mentioned like Fatty Liver in the scan ?

Well onething what I can say is Isolated liver enlargement is not indicative of TB.

Coming to KFT before CT scan with contrast, it is done because the Injection what they give as contrast can harm the kidneys if they are not functioning normally. So to check the functioning of kidneys , KFT ( Kidney function tests). This is a routine protocol followed every where.

Benadon, Zevit are multi vitamin tablets . You can take it and finish it off. Pantocid is Gastric tablet , there is no need to take it unless you have Gastritis.

Hope this information was useful to you.
Any clarification feel free to ask.

Regards.
