FEW MORE DETAILS REQUESTED

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for writing to us with your health concern.
Congratulations on your first pregnancy ( I assume it is the first ) !
Regarding food and nutrition, your wife can eat whatever she likes.
IN the first 3 months of pregnancy, women face a problem of nausea, vomiting and aversion to certain smells or food.
It is therefore important to allow her to eat whatever she likes according to her taste.
SHe should take folic acid tablet 5 mg per day, that will cover her nutritional needs for the first 3 months.
Later on, from the 4th month onwards, she can take iron, calcium, vitamin D also.
Please let me know if she is a vegetarian or non vegetarian, I can then suggest a few ideas for her diet.
what is her current height and weight ?
Does she have any food taboos ?
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Take care.

2. Eat atleast 3 - 4 servings of dairy products, including paneer, curd, whole milk , cheese etc.
3. 3 - 4 helpings of protein rich foods - chicken, tofu,lentils, fish, nuts, , egg.
4. 3 - 4 helpings of fresh green leafy vegetables and fresh fruits. Avoid juices, it is better to have whole fruits instead as fibre too is provided, avoiding constipation which is most common during pregnancy.
5. Have 5 -6 small frequent meals instead of 2 -3 big ones.
6. Iron rich foods such as liver, red meat, spinach, methi should be consumed.
7. Eat home made, healthy food. Avoid spicy , oily, greasy, fried food.
