Hi Mr XXXXXXX

Thank you for posting your query.

There are two likely possibilties for your symptoms last evening:

1. Peripheral vertigo- in this condition, dizziness is accompanied by nausea (a feeling of vomiting). Symptoms may worsen with head or neck movements. It is self limiting in nature and improves on its own.

Betahistine tablets may be used for symptomatic relief of dizziness.

2. Pre-syncope- this refers to a feeling of near fainting, associated with weakness and sweating. This may occur when tired/exhausted or hungry (as in your case).

Please screen for the risk factors such as diabetes, high BP, cholesterol, etc.

There is no need to worry at present. Please get back if you have any follow up queries.

Wishing you good health,

I am a 56yr old Paraplegic male, recently I have had a bout of pneumonia which I am 99% over, however since I've been sick I have developed an ectopic heart beat. I have discussed this with my GP and have had an ECG which showed up the irregularity , however I'm still stressing over this. When I have one of these attacks, I have a funny feel wave over me. I don't know how else to describe this feeling other than its a fainting like feeling but I don't faint. I have also been recently put on blood pressure tablets. My question is? would any or all of this contribute to the onset of this ectopic heartbeat ? And of course is this going to go away without me dropping dead
