Hello, I would be happy to help you with your question.

Here are the benefits of the pill:
1. Birth control! Obviously
2. Decreased bleeding and pain with your cycle
3. Decreased symptoms of PMS (premenstrual syndrome)
4. Decreased acne and symptoms of hirsutism (you knew this!)
5. Decreased risk for uterine cancer

Here are the risks / side effects of the pill:
1. Overall, they are very safe!
2. Occasion bloating / fluid retention
3. Nausea (sometimes better if taken at night)
4. Breast tenderness
5. Breakthrough spotting

These side effects usually subside in several months. Weight gain is not a consistent finding with low-dose pills!!

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have more questions!! - DR XXXXXXX
