Hello,

Thanks for posting your query.

Unfortunately there is no complete cure for polio.

The focus of modern treatment has been on providing relief of symptoms, speeding recovery and preventing complications. There is no injection which can help in walking when a patient has polio.

Recent treatment options include hydrotherapy, electrotherapy, massage and passive motion exercises, and surgical treatments such as tendon lengthening and nerve grafting.

Out of these in nerve grafting, remaining brainstem and spinal cord motor neurons develop new branches which can reinnervate orphaned muscle fibers that have been denervated by acute polio infection and thus restoring the fibers' capacity to contract and improving strength.

You can discuss these treatment options with your doctor as the efficacy and success of treatment will depend on the extent of damage and effect on the limbs.

Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us.

I will be happy to answer your queries.

Wishing you good health.

Regards.
