Question: I lifted excess weight in the Gym yesterday while doing shoulder exercises. Due to this I have got a terrible pain in my neck and am unable to move it since yesterday. There is only limited movement and any movement of the neck - upwards or downwards causes a lot of pain. I have applied a muscle anti inflamatory gel and have taken a pain killer (nimuslide) for the same. Kindly advise if this is okay or should I change the medication ?

Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
From the description that you have provided, it seems that you have suffered a muscle sprain due to the exercise. You need to provide rest to the neck- preferably use a cervical collar. Avoid massaging the area. Doing a hot fomentation will be helpful. Avoid all overhead activities and do not use a pillow.
In case the pain is persistent even after taking a mild pain killer, then you might need stronger prescription medicines like muscle relaxants after consulting your orthopedician.
I hope this answers your query.
In case you have additional questions or doubts, you can forward them to me, and I shall be glad to help you out.
Please accept my answer in case you do not have further queries.
Wishing you good health.
Regards.

Hi, I have been having trouble with my bowels for years, and I have seen many specialists. The only thing that was ever found is a non-specific colitis a year ago. However, I keep on having lots of nagging pain on my left side, and some days an intense shooting pain in the back, in the area of my kidneys. Do you have any idea what this could be?

Hi, i am 18yrs old and have been using spasmo proxyvon for the past 3yrs after i suffered from kidney stone pain. But as this drug was a effective pain killer, i started using it during my periods. I take 2-3 tabs per month, but as it is banned i am unable to get it at any drug store. Kindly suggest me an alternative during period pain.
thanks
with regards!

For the past several weeks I haven't felt myself. Firstly some basic data about myself: I'm 5'10, 130-135lbs, 32 year old Caucasian male. I suffer from allergies and take Claritin, I am also allergic to penecillin. I take excedrin for migraines on occasion.

For symptoms, I have been feeling overall fatigue. Great difficulty wake up in the morning as I feel very groggy. This week or so I have headaches that fade in and out. The past few days I've had abdominal discomfort (dull ache around the navel area). Every so often I also feel chest discomfort of pain. It is NOT a radiating pain, and it's always the same location. It's a slightly stinging pain but also a bit dull at the same time (I'm aware it's a bit of a contradiction) and sometimes I feel a kind of sinking feeling in my chest.

In general I have difficulty getting to sleep as i just do not feel like going to sleep, even though I may be physically and mentally exhausted. It has gotten worse the past couple weeks and now I just don't know why I won't go to sleep even though I'm barely able to stay awake.

My question, as it were, is there something terribly wrong with me? Something I'm not aware of?

sometimes I have very dull pain in my chest area, mostly on the right side of my chest but sometime as if its located under my right breast. it has happened more than once. what could that be. The pain is very dull, more like irritating than of a real pain.
