Nose Bleeding, Low Carbohydrate Diet. Is This Common?

Question: I have been on a low carb diet for 6 weeks and have been experiencing nosebleeds. Is this common?

The most common causes for nose bleeds are
1. Trauma including picking of nose and common cold
2. Hypertension
3. Infections
4. Bleeding disorders
5. Change in altitudes

Low carb diet should not cause nose bleeds. I would advise you to pinch your nose for a while to stop the nose bleed. Please see a Ent surgeon for further evaluation of the nose bleed. There is nothing to worry, we see many idiopathic nose bleeds which subsides on its own in our daily practice.
