My Wife Has Had Severe Stomach Pain All Week Including

default
Posted on Fri, 30 Aug 2019
Question: My wife has had severe stomach pain all week including vomiting/nausea. No diarrhea, and she's only pooped once this week (she said it was thin like a ribbon). Not pregnant. Normal menstruation. No fever, blood and urine normal, kidney, liver, white blood count, blood pressure, all normal. Only slightly low sodium likely due to vomiting for hours. Ct scan did not detect bowel obstruction. Pain is sharp in upper left abdomen near ribs, but dull and generalized over upper abdomen. We've been to urgent care, and later the er, and then her primary care doc. So far, no answers. She's been given bentyl and zofran which have marginal results. She's had constipation and stomach pain on/off for months, but never this severe. She had ac section 1.5 years ago. She is totally debilitated and hasn't gotten out of bed in a week. The doctors seem stumped. We have an appointment with a gastroenterologist but they're booked for a month, she can't wait that long. What are some possible causes?

Brief Answer:
May be due to exacerbation of chronic gastritis...

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I have gone through your query and here is my advice.

As per your history, all lab investigations and computed tomography (CT Scan) are within normal limits. So I think it may be due to exacerbation of chronic gastritis.

For further assessment, I would suggest you to consult with gastroenterologist for detailed clinical examination. He may procure upper GI endoscopy as per evaluation.

Mean while, along with tab Zofran and bentyl, you can take tablet pantoprazole and syp. Mucaine gel after family physician consultation.

For constipation, you can take syp duphalac after consultation. Along with that avoid hot and spicy foods.

Do regular blood pressure monitoring and take soft, balanced diet.

Hope I have answered your query.
