Hello!

Welcome on - Ask a Doctor - service!

Regarding your concern, I would explain that heart rate is an ever changing parameter. So you shouldn't worry about it!

Anyways, in case your heart rate is having excessive fluctuations, then it is necessary to monitor your heart rhythm.

In such case, I would recommend an ambulatory ECG monitoring (Holter) test. Thyroid hormones level and blood electrolytes level should be checked as well.

You should discuss with your doctor on the above mentioned issues.

Hope to have been helpful to you!

In case of any further questions, feel free to ask me again.

I’m getting, like pulsing feeling in my leg when I’m sitting down it’s not constant but it happens lots it’s mostly in my calf’s. Can this be high cholesterol? Like I said I’m 23 and I’ve only recently started to be active again.

Hello again !

Regarding your concern, I would explain that at your age it is really less likely to be caused by high cholesterol levels or peripheral arteriopathy.

In my opinion the pulse in your calf could be related to a wrong position or local inflammation.

Do you have any leg pain, swelling or redness? This would be indicative of local inflammation.

Anyway, I don't think that there is any reason to panic.

I would recommend performing a complete blood count test to check for anemia and blood electrolytes for possible imbalance.

Hope you will find this information helpful!

Wishing all the best,

Dr.Iliri

My opinion as follows:

Detailed Answer:
Hello again!

I understand your concern and would explain that high cholesterol levels can lead to chronic narrowing of the blood vessels (also called peripheral arteriopathy), which is characterized by low blood flow in the leg and a weak pulse.

So, I would exclude high cholesterol levels as a possible cause of your complaints.

I would also recommend checking thyroid hormone levels, because thyroid gland dysfunction may trigger a similar clinical situation.

Another test to consider would be a Doppler ultrasound of the leg vessels in order to examine the blood flow in them.

Hope you will find this information helpful!
