My Father Has High Blood Pressure Issue Since 10-15 Years.
Question: My father has high blood pressure issue since 10-15 years. He changed the medicine from Amlopin 5 to Telma AM based on advice from the general physician recently - as blood pressure remained high even after Amplopin 5.
The doctor also pressed a finger in the leg and there was depression in the skin that remained for sometime. The doctor guessed that there might be water retention issue - and hence recommended KFT and LFT.
Doctor advised KFT and LFT Tests. Most parameters in the report are within the range - but wanted a confirmation from an expert. What is your opinion. I am also attaching the report for reference.

Yes, pitting edema is known to occur with liver and renal disease. But the current reports don't reveal any significant renal or liver abnormality. Yes the phosphorus level is mildly elevated but with normal creatinine / BUN, I would not consider this elevation significant.
I would repeat the test if the swelling persists after few weeks to confirm phosphorus and renal function test.
Constipation is unrelated. It should improve with better diet (plenty of fibers and water). If necessary, he can be started on stool softners for a few days.
