My Dad Seems To Have Severe Heartburn With Intermittent, Black
Question: My dad seems to have severe heartburn with intermittent, black stool indicative of blood.
but sometimes he doesn't communicate well, today it seems to be both abdomen and heartburn
He has a long history of constipation, but it has been less
TUMS has helped, the dark stool lessened after omerpazole but does appear still
We saw 2 gastros, one did not have serious concern, nor does the other but wants to do a endoscopy and colonscopy to be cautious.
We are not sure if we should just do what we are doing to treat it before his procedure next week or be more concerned since he is uncomfortable

He is 85.
He has had an xray that was fine.
I indicated he had a stroke in the past.
I dont know about any changes in hemoglobin
