Brief Answer:
Do not give anything except exclusive breast feeding till 6 months of age

Detailed Answer:
Hi....do not give water at this age.

As per world health organisation (WHO) recommendations, feed only exclusive breast feeding till 6 months of age.

I understand your concern about dehydration. But the fluid content in breast milk will be enough for preventing dehydration.

Brief Answer:
It is normal - dont worry

Detailed Answer:
Hi...it is a normal phenomenon in this age group. Nothing to worry about it. It is not due to stomach infection. If the feeding well without choking, then salivation need not be worried about.

Brief Answer:
Suggestions on feeding the baby

Detailed Answer:
Hi.... it is always better to go on demand feeding. In that way you will not be over feeding the baby. This over feeding can result in regurgitation.

Moreover keeping a particular time to feed the baby will make you apprehensive, if the baby does not wake up on time and feed properly on time.

Brief Answer:
Suggestions on blue lips

Detailed Answer:
Hi....I understand your concern.

1. Birth weight is excellent.

2. As you are feeling weight gain of the baby, it's a good sign.

3. No breathlessness while feeding is a good sign.

4. But lips turning blue while crying may be suggestive of either a breath holding spell or a structural anomaly in the heart. For this I suggest that you consult your Pediatrician and get an Echo done for the baby.

But as you are feeling weight gain and as there are no other signs, you need not worry.
