Posted on Wed, 24 Sep 2014
Question: Hi. I gave my boyfriend of a year unprotected oral sex about over a month ago. A couple days after i did he got tested for HIV/STD because i was freaking out. All the results were negative. However i got a sinus infection after i gave him oral sex and was perscribed amoxicillin and it gave me an oral thrush. The oral thrush is taking forever to go away because ive had a lot of post nasal drip. Basically im scared that I have HIV. And just recently i got a rash under my arm pit. Please help. Even though hes HIV/STD free im still scared

Brief Answer:
No point being afraid as he is HIV/STD free!!!!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this troubling though that has invaded your mindset. There is nothing that ruins and kills as fast as an unsettled mind. I understand your fears and worries concerning STDs and HIV, however, your friend is free of all these conditions. So how would you be able to contract these diseases as he has none? It is not possible.

I am afraid you are being too hard on yourself. It is normal to be concerned about the possibility of getting infected but, with sufficient information to show that you run no risk of contracting an infection, you should be calm, relaxed, reassured and celebrate. Your very worried and stressful state can all by itself be responsible for a weakened immune system, all this causing abscesses, thrush, infections, etc. that would last even longer and generate more concerns and fears in you.

In all, there is no exposure to STD/HIV and there is no possibility to contract this condition. Do justice to yourself by not manufacturing an artificial problem and getting drained by it. You need to tell yourself you are okay and that's the greatest part on the way to healing.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thank you so much for using our services and feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
