default
Posted on Fri, 27 Feb 2015
Question: Hi I am 19 + weeks pregnant. My LMP was 15 sep 14. Attaching my USG and triple marker test report and thyroid test done on 16 weeks pregnancy. My weight is at present 54.5 kg.

My question is that is my baby's physical growth is fine as per report and gestation weeks? Like weight , size etc because my belly is not so much looks like a pregnant lady whereas its 19+ weeks.

At present I am taking shelcal 500mg two times one in empty stomach morning and one at bed time and one autrin capsule after lunch. Is shelcal 500 mg is safe medicine and two times is required?

I feel everyday digestion problem. Due to indigestion I sometimes feel vomiting also but I control. Is it due to calcium tablet indigestion occurring?
I take one doxinate tablet before lunch as and when require due to vomiting feeling and unable to eat properly. Hope doxinate is safe ?
But its due to indigestion problem I am having problem.

Does repeated USG is harmful? I have done 4 USG till now on 5 weeks, 8 weeks, 16 weeks and 19.

Please comment on all above question and advice and sorry for the lengthy query doctor.

Thanks.

Brief Answer:
tests are ok

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for the query.

With regard to the tests that you mentioned, the triple marker suggests low risk. The levels are withing normal limits. There should be be no problems with regards to the same. The ultrasound is also fine. Congenital anomaly scan was also normal.Thyroid is normal.

There is no harm due to repeated ultrasounds as its totally safe.
With regard to the medicines, all the ones you are taking are safe in pregnancy.
Shelcal 500mg is usually taken once a day. Although i personally prefer to add Vit D3 along with that. Iron supplements like autrin are also taken once a day.
Doxinate is safe also. Though its usually taken before bedtime.

Gastritis is a problem as it increases during pregnancy. You can take antacids or gels before meals or in empty stomach. Speak with your doctor about that.
At 19 weeks your abdomen may not be very significant. The total amount of weight gain is important. Add a protein powder with milk to help with weight gain.

Brief Answer:
Continue with doctors advice

Detailed Answer:
Hi again

Well, calcium citrate and calcium ascorbate are both ok to use. Difference is marginal. Use shelcal once a day as advised if you have already started it. Usually iron and calcium should be taken at different times. If you are taking iron after lunch then calcium after dinner. Once a day is usually sufficient unless you are deficient and your doctor advises twice.

With regard to the USG, the fetal parameters are ok but weight of the fetus is too early to determine. As I have mentioned the overall weight gain is important . At 16 week it's too early to have significant weight gain .

Madam I visited gynecologist. And told about my indigestion problem and also asked about calcium tablet. She has given 15 days medicine and told for review. She gave me

Calsive tablet which contains
- Calcium Citrate 1000 mg ,Magnesium, hydroxide,Zinc sulphate with Vitamin D3 200 IU after or before dinner can be taken. Autrin capsule as it is after lunch.

For indigestion Himalaya "LIV 52 " tablet given one tablet two times. Could you tell me is it safe and what is the best time to be taken after or before meal along with schedule of iron and calcium tablet?

For weight and good development she has given protein powder " PROHEALTH DHA" 2 spoon with milk once or two times in a day.

Is black grapes, dates , soup are safe ? To increase the chance of normal delivery instead of ceserian if you can suggest any advice will be great madam.

Please comment all on above taking ur convenient time
And recommend any medicine if u find better or something else.

Thanks madam. Sorry for long query. This is my last follow up question. I will be back again in future.

Brief Answer:
All in order

Detailed Answer:
all that you have been prescribed seems to be fine. Take Liv 52 before meals and iron/calcium as advised . the protein powder is also ok to take. if the indigestion is too severe take antacid syrup. It's not possible to comment on the possibility of normal delivery at this early stage. There is no food restriction.
