Is Pregnancy Possible Despite Taking I Pill After An Intercourse?

default
Posted on Mon, 13 Oct 2014
Question: Dear Sir/Madam,
I had intercourse with my wife on 23rd without any protection at arround 11 PM. Currently we dont want the baby. So she took an I pill on 24th at around 3PM . After that we had sex again on 25th at arround 6AM. So is there any chance for her to get pregnant. If so, does she need to take another i pill again ?

Brief Answer:
Not likely pregnant.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
I can understand your wish.
Since all the sex and tablet taking is within 72 hours, there is no chance of getting pregnant.

She should not take any further i pill.

By the way, when is she supposed to get the next menses, please let me know the dates to calculate whether she was having ovulation during this period.
Ovulation normally occurs around 14 days prior ( before ) to the next expected date of menstruation.

Brief Answer:
Nothing to worry.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your feedback.

If she has a 28 days cycle the expected date would be approximately 1 st of next month. IF we deduce 14 days, the ovulation date is around 17 th of this month. This is the date of maximum chances of getting pregnant along with + or - 4 days; and she had taken i pill on 24 th within 72 hours of the sex ( 23 rd), so as per the normal calculations there is nothing to worry about and 25 th anyway is during the safe period and the action of i-pill is still going on.

So relax, enjoy life, stop worrying, calculate dates properly from next time, use condom also in unsafe period. Try avoid hormonal tablets as you are having sex with your wife, you would like to go for the children at a later date so do not play with hormones.

I hope this satisfies both of your queries. You may please rate this answer.
