Is Molluscum Contagiosum Contagious?

default
Posted on Mon, 19 Dec 2016
Question: What are these, warts, molloscum contagious? The one on my stomach people have already debunked that it was a wart but what about the pubic area? It started off as one and now 2 but one looks like i can pop it thats why i'm so confused is it a whitehead or what. I had unprotected sex like 3 or 4 months ago and he had what appeared to be a wart like bump on the very bottom of his penis near pubic area. He swears it wasnt a wart and i didnt know any better at the time but im scared i might have gotten hpv. And being that im a male i cant really get tested for it.

Brief Answer:
Suggestive of sebaceous cyst

Detailed Answer:
Hi & Welcome.
Thanks for posting your query on healthcare magic.
After having gone through the history and the uploaded pictures I am of the opinion that you seem to have developed a benign condition of the skin called sebaceous cyst.

The sebaceous gland produces the oil called sebum that coats your hair and skin. Cysts can develop if the gland or its duct, the passage where oil is able to leave, becomes damaged or blocked. It is a closed sac under the skin filled with a cheese-like or oily material.

There is nothing to worry about it.

Hope to have answered your query however if you have any follow up query please do reply.

Regards.

Hi & Welcome back.
Thanks for your reply, noted its contents.

Most of such cysts don't cause problems or need treatment.

But you can help prevent scarring and infection by:
Placing a warm, moist cloth over the area to help the cyst drain and heal
Do not squeeze it yourself as it may cause infection.

Visit your GP if you have the cysts growing rapidly, or if it ruptures or becomes painful or infected.

Hope these answer your query.
Wishing you best of your health.
