Is It Safe To Walk While Suffering From Knee Sprain?

default
Posted on Fri, 17 Jun 2016
Question: I have been having knee pain, but I have been able to continue exercising and walking my dogs.
Yesterday while walking the dogs I started to jog after them . My first step shot a sharp pain up the back of my knee. I am able to put some weight on it today. Should I try and walk it off or rest it?

Brief Answer:
find the answer below.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome to health care magic, I share your concern and I will try to help you out in best possible way.
Since there was acute increase in pain when you started jogging, it most probably is sprain of one of the ligaments of knee joint. The ideal treatment for which is immobilization or rest for a week, along with application of local analgesics and if possible use knee cap to restrict movement at knee joint. Try not to squat.
I hope this helps you
If you have any further query, I would be glad to help you.
