Question: I have been taking 4 hydrocodone 10/325 for 10 years after 6 back surgeries, the last being a reconstruction of the lumbar----26 screws, 3 cages and 2 rods. Is it medically permissible to increase to 5 per day, watching at the same time the liver function? Thank you beforehand

Brief Answer:

Yes you can

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

The maximum daily dose of this medication is six tablets per day. This means that you can take five tablets per day, but I would recommend that you follow up on the liver and kidney functions including AST and ALT together with blood urea and creatinine respectively.

Also, you should watch out for early symptoms of respiratory depression which includes shallow breathing, shortness of breath, extreme fatigue, day time sleeping.

Hope I have answered your query.

Take care
