default
Posted on Mon, 19 Jan 2015
Question: Can I still get pregnant after both my filiopian tubes were removed. The first was from an etopic pregnancy, then the second from damage due to STD. I am 36 years old and really want another baby since I have only had one.

Brief Answer:
unfortunately would need artificial means

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

If both fallopian tubes were removed or damaged then unfortunately any pregnancy that occurs would have to be due artificial pregnancy eg IVF.

This is because the fallopian tubes would be needed to transport the eggs from the ovaries to the uterus. If the tubes are not present or damaged, then this cannot occur so the eggs cannot be fertilized naturally.

You would still be producing eggs and it is possible that they can be artificially fertilized and then the embryo implanted however.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions

After some research, I discover that I had a tubal ligation on the left side and a tubal removal on the right. Will I still have to consider ivf

Brief Answer:
if can be reconstructed then no

Detailed Answer:
HI

Sorry about the late reply

If the tube can be reopened or reconstructed then it maybe possible to become pregnant.
In some cases this may not be possible and IVF may still be necessary.

Your gynaecologist would need to assess the tube to by imaging to determine if reconstruction is possible.

Please feel free to ask anything else
