Question: I have been treated as having IBS for many years.
Recently I have found out that I have type 3 biliary acid malabsorbtion.
Is this a common misdiagnosis.

-> Now if in your case SeHCAT test has been performed and results depict bile acid malabsorption then its not a misdiagnosis.
> Treatment:
Treatment is with colestyramine, a resin which binds and inactivates the action of bile acids in the colon(large intestine).
