Posted on Wed, 30 Mar 2016
Question: My 2 month has a cold and we went to our local pediatrician on Monday 2/8 when he first started showing symptoms of a cold. His temperature is at 99.3. Can I give him infant Tylenol? Is 99.3 considered a temperature? His symptoms are getting worse should I be concerned?

Brief Answer:
Fever

Detailed Answer:
Hello. I just read through your question.
In general, once a child reaches 2 months of age, a fever is considered to be 101.0 and higher. If your baby has a fever at this level, or if he is just uncomfortable, you may use the infant tylenol.
Typically, these things will get worse over the first 2-3 days. Then they start to improve slowly over the course of about a week.
If the symptoms continue to worsen after day 4 or 5, or the fever rises to 101 or higher, I recommend having your baby re-examined. If not, we can watch the baby at home for improvement.
