Is Heart Rate Over 120 Beats Per Minute A Cause For Concern?

default
Posted on Mon, 28 Dec 2015
Question: Is it normal to have a heart rate over 120 if I take adderall and have alcohol and nicotine? I noticed it was fast so checked and it was around 130 BPM. And is it dangerous?

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question.

A heart rate of 120-130 is not normal. Nicotine, alcohol, alcohol withdrawal, and Adderall can all cause an increase in heart rate. Some of these situations, such as alcohol withdrawal, can be deadly. I recommend you visit an emergency room now for further evaluation, including an EKG.

I will use your link to contact you directly. However, I know I am not having withdrawal or anything. I experience anxiety attacks and so on and I think the adderall makes it worse. My heart rate is under 100 now. Do you still suggest going to an ER? I feel fine, just had a high heart rate. I think I should just stop taking adderal.. Thoughts?

Detailed Answer:
With a heart rate below 100, there is no need to visit an ER, if you are certain you are not in withdrawal. I think Adderall is probably not a good idea for you, but I'd need more information. Give me your medical history and some more details when you message my private link, and I'll provide you a complete consultation.
