Is Breathing Difficulty A Side Effect Of Metoprolol And Amlodipine?

default
Posted on Thu, 9 Oct 2014
Question: I'm on 50mg ER metoprolol and 10mg amlodipine. I'm 45 years old. Breathing last couple of days has been slightly shallow especially when working out. Was wondering could this be some serious or minor side effect from the medications.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX!

Before running into the conclusion i would like suggesting to do some examinations to rule out heart and pulmonary disease (that may cause the same complaints especially dyspnea).
- ECG
- Cardiac Echo
- Chest X ray
- Pulmonary respiratory test

If everything is normal than your complaints are more likely to be due to stress. Only tiredness may be related to metoprolol use and it's a minor side effect.

Hope this answered your query!
