Brief Answer:
infection is the most likely cause

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Blood in urine (hematuria) can be due to different possible causes.

Infection of some aspect of the urinary tract (urethra, ureter, bladder, prostate, kidneys) is the most common cause.
This can be determined by a urine analysis in your doctor's office, he or she may also send off urine to the lab.
If detected, antibiotics can be given.

Other causes are: (1) stones in the urinary tract
(2)trauma
(3)side effect of medication such as aspirin
(4)mass or lesion in the urinary tract
(5)kidney disorder such as an inflammatory disease of the kidneys
(6)enlargement of the prostate

If the symptoms and urinalysis strongly suggest infection then antibiotics can be used
If the cause is not obvious then your doctor may suggest an ultrasound to take a look at the urinary tract and also blood tests eg PSA, complete blood count and ESR (looks for inflammation in the body)

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
